DESCRIPTION:We want to let you all know about our June 1st guest teacher at our Burnaby(IFD) Wednesday afternoon Zoom group.  Holly Plotner is teaching at our June 1st Zoom session running from 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm (Pacific Time). Holly is an avid dancer and spent her early years dancing at weddings and festivals in Chicago’s diverse ethnic community. However\, she didn’t discover International Folk Dancing until the mid-80’s\, and was immediately hooked. Holly\, now living in Austin\, Texas where she dances with Austin International Folk Dancers\, Texas International Folk Dancers\, Austin Scandinavian Dancers and Csárás Hungarian Dancers. She is a frequent dance leader\, performer\, programmer\, and teacher and has directed many camps\, workshops and performances. SUMMARY:Lyrids Folk Dance Festival 2022 online via Zoom
DESCRIPTION:Our eighth Lyrids Folk Dance Festival is a one day wonder! It includes dances from Bulgaria & Beyond with Jaap Leegwater\, dances from Turkey with Ahmet Lüleci\, and dances from Israel with Naomi Taussig. At noon\, Yves Moreau and France Bourque Moreau will talk on Traditional Dance of Québec & Beyond. Enjoy singing with Michele Simon and drumming with Polly Tapia Ferber. The evening party will include music with Orkestar Unbound (Bill Cope & friends)\, dancing your favourite dances\, and the day’s dance reviews.  \nRegistration is now open. The festival is free to attend. However\, all donations are used to top up payments to the presenters. There are incentives for that!
