SUMMARY:Folk dance workshop with Steve Finlay
DESCRIPTION:We are excited and happy to announce that Steve Finlay will be teaching a dance workshop with us this week as well as next week (April 11th and 18th) from 7:30 pm – 9:20 pm at Charles Rummel Centre in Burnaby. Steve is a lovely dancer and musician with a comprehensive understanding of some of the rhythms typical of many Balkan dances. There will be warm-up dances from 7:00 pm – 7:25 pm and doors open at 6:45. Drop-in is $6.00.  \nFirst time is free. Our current COVID-19 protocol is proof of vaccination if this is your first time dancing with us this season. SUMMARY:Lyrids Folk Dance Festival
DESCRIPTION:Our ninth Lyrids Folk Dance Festival\, includes dances from the Balkans with Steve Kotansky\, and dances from Albania with Genci Kastrati. Saturday evening will have live music with Orkestar RTW and on Friday evening we’ll dance your favourite dances.  \nIf you haven’t registered \, you can still attend the evening parties on Friday and Saturday night and half day sessions and we will take on-site registration. We can no longer accept registration that include meals (unless there is a late cancellation). You will need to show your proof of vaccination and take a rapid test. For more information and prices: www.lyridsfolkdancefestival.org/fees-2023/ \nThe Saturday and Sunday evening parties will be broadcast on Zoom starting at 7:00 pm. Steve Kotansky and Genci Kastrati from Albania\, will be teaching and on Saturday evening we will have the live band from Seattle\, Washington\, Orkestar RTW.  At around 7:15 pm – 8:00 pm\, our two teachers\, Steve and Genci and a high energy\, very captivating local Bulgarian group\, Zornitza Dance Ensemble\, will perform.
